Sydney is the captial of New South Wales, Australia. The city encapsulates world’s largest natural harbour and its residents are called as Sydneysiders. Sydney has now become a global cultural and economic center. It’s well known attractions are:
1. Bondi Beach
Bondi Beach is just 8 kms away from the city, and is an amazing place to visit. There are quite a few things that you can do – surfing, skating, relax in the sand. There are many snack shops where you can enjoy ice cream and gelato.
2. Sydney Harbour Bridge
Sydney Harbour Bridge is a bridge across the Sydney harbour that carries traffic between the two sides – Sydney Central Business District and North Shore.The bridge is nicknamed as “The Coathanger” because of its shape. Alongwith the Sydney Opera House, it forms an iconic image of Sydney, which brings us to the next sight.
3. Sydney Opera House
The iconic Sydney Opera House was designed by Danish architect, Jorn Utzon, and was opened on 20th October, 1973. Although named as Opera House, it also holds various performing arts; about 1500 performances in a year. If you are not interested in the performances, you can just take the guided tour of the House.
4. Royal Botanic Garden
The Royal Botanic Garden was established in 1816 and showcases many plants from Australia and other parts of the world. There is a free 90 minute guided walk of the garden. It is city’s favourite picnic spot and also jogging track.
5. Manly Beach
Manly Beach is a nice 2 kilometer long stretch of beach that is bordered by Pine trees. There are many shops, restaurants and clubs within a walking distance from the beach.
