Pros:<\/strong><\/p>\n

The People:<\/strong> Bhutanese are genuinely nice people. They are calm and quiet; might be due to their religious beliefs. Their genuineness will touch you. Even kids are kind and playful. You will find the guides and drivers very knowledgeable, gracious, talented and fun to be with.<\/p>\n

Buddhism: <\/strong>Bhutanese are true believers of Buddhism. It is reflected in their life everywhere. You will get to hear a number of folklores and stories about how the things came into being. Even atheists turn to inward for a few moments. Buddhism teaches non-violence and detachment from worldly things if practiced even in a lower percentage, will surely make the world a better place to live.<\/p>\n

The Himalayas: <\/strong>You can get a unique view of Himalayan peaks. There are many other places from where you can seem the Himalayas, but they are not as captivating as this view. There are rhododendrons in abundance, magnolia trees and grand downhill and uphill walks. Adventurous ones will find a number of trekking options.<\/p>\n

Cons:<\/strong><\/p>\n

Infrastructure: <\/strong>This tiny country has poor infrastructure. You will face difficulty in moving around. There is one national highway which extremely twisty, unpaved, dusty and mainly traveled by old-age trucks.\u00a0 Traveling is sure to give you nausea. Mind it; toilet will be a problem; there are hardly any bushes around the highway to help you with.<\/p>\n

Medical Remedies: <\/strong>Do keep some medicines with you for common diseases and your health conditions. You can\u2019t buy drugs at a chemist store. Locals get their medicines at hospitals. You will be required to take a lot of efforts for outdoor treatment. You might get home made remedies, but their effectiveness can\u2019t be guaranteed.<\/p>\n

Food: <\/strong>You will very limited options for food. Mostly vegetarian dishes are served with rice, veggies, and baked beans. Bhutan\u2019s national dish is ema dates which are prepared with red or green chilli and cheese \u2013 sometimes it is spicy.\u00a0 Bhutanese don\u2019t kill animals; it is a Buddhists country that preaches non-violence. Meat is brought here from India or Nepal; even most in unrefrigerated conditions. It appears to be hacked and separated. You will hardly find a tasty non-vegetarian dish.<\/p>\n

Alcohol: <\/strong>There are very limited options. Better keep some with you if you are fond of. Bhutanese do produce a few wines (sweet) and beers. You have to settle for them if you don\u2019t have any with you. It is hard to find any imported brand. \u00a0There is a Wi-Fi signal which is often promised.<\/p>\n

Altitude: <\/strong>It is situated at high altitude; 7,218 ft (2,200 meters). Get your health checked before traveling to Bhutan.<\/p>\n
