Guwahati –Shillong(140 kms / 4 hrs)
Arrive Guwahati airport till 14.00 hrs and drive to Shillong (100 kms / 4 hrs drive approx). Overnight in Shillong.
Shillong– Cherrapunjee - Shillong (60 Kms / 1.5 hrs one way)
After breakfast drive to Cherrapunjee, the wettest place on the earth, for an awesome day trip. En route visit the famous Elephant Falls. In Cherrapunjee be witness to the gorgeous Seven Sisters Falls and Nohkalikai Falls. Later take a soft cave walk inside the Mawsmai Cave. The limestone cave is a natural wonder with innumerable formations inside it. After lunch at Cherrapunjee, visit Eco park. Drive back to Shillong for overnight stay.
Shillong – Dawki - Mawlynong - Shillong (116 kms/3 hrs one way)
After breakfast drive to Mawlynnong Village known as the cleanest village in Asia and the God’s own Garden. On arrival, visit the Living Root Bridge, a natural bridge formed with the roots of the trees. A little hiking is required to see the magnificent bridge (hiking approx 1 hour). Then visit the balancing rock, a small stone holding a big rock by balancing it on above it and the Tree House (watch tower) made by the local people of the village. Drive Further 30 Kms from Mwallynong to reach Dawki. Dawki, name is famous because of international trade border town to Bangladesh. The Drive to Dawki is a beautiful drive along with Bangladesh border, covered with betel nut trees and a thrilling experience to drive around lots of waterfalls. You can see people from Bangladesh working and fishing in this river being in Indian Border. Before reaching the bordering town you will came across with this blue-water river which is known as Umngot river. Dawki village is known for limestone business and other international trade with Bangladesh and weekly market allows people from both sides to tread their stuffs. Return back to Shillong. Overnight at Shillong.
Shillong– Kaziranga (250 kms / 7-8hrs)
After Breakfast proceed to Kaziranga National Park – The land of one horned rhino. En route witness the Umiam Lake (Barapani) - is the biggest artificial lake in Meghalaya in midst of sylvan hills adorned by Khasi pines & peerless beauty. Boat Ride in Lake (at your own cost), boat ride is subject to rules by the Authority .On arrival at Kaziranga, check into hotel and stay overnight at Kaziranga.
Early morning proceed for the exclusive jeep safari & elephant safari at any of the range (Eastern/Central- Subject to Availability & Timing). Explore the wildlife of Kazirangaspecially the pride of Assam, One horned Rhinoceros, Wild Buffalo, Hog Deer, Swamp deer, red headed bill and various flora and faunas. Return back to hotel by lunch. Evening free for leisure. Overnight at Kaziranga.
Kaziranga–Bomdila (200 kms / 7-8hrs)
Morning drive to Bomdila that is situated at an altitude of 8000 ft. From here one can see the brilliant landscape and snow-clad mountains of the Himalayan Range.On the way visit Tippi On the banks of the river JiaBhoroli at an elevation of 190 mtrs is Tipi, an orchidarium with over 7500 orchids. On display are some of the finest species with names like the Dainty Lady's Slipper or the more formal sounding Dendrobium. Arunachal has the largest range of orchids in the country.Check in the hotel on arrival. After lunch visit Bomdila Monastery (Upper Gompa). Bomdila offers wonderfully panoramic view of Himalayan landscapes and snow clad ranges. Evening you can visit the local market. Overnight stayBomdila.
Bomdila–Tawang (170 kms / 6 - 7 hrs)
Morning after breakfastdrive to Tawang (10,000 ft). En route witness the unique Dirang Valley famous for its monasteries, Also witness the snowcapped Sella Pass at 13700 ft, the JaswantGarh War Memorial. Overnight in Tawang.
JaswantGarh War Memorial : Legend has it that Jaswant (Mahavir Chakra Awardee (Posthumous) of 4th BatallionGarhwal Rifles), fought a lone battle against the invading Chinese during the 1962 war. His spirit is still believed to protect the place.
SelaPass : @13700 ft, the Sela Pass is is snow-covered (full or partial) all through the year and has breathtaking mystic views. Close to the Pass is the beautiful Sela Lake, a heart-shaped lake chiseled between the mountains, which intensifies the beauty of the region. The Lake is mostly frozen in winter. The Sela Pass is the main route to access Tawang town and is located 78 km before reaching Tawang.
After breakfast drive high above town to the high altitude lakes of Pangong Tang Tso (popularly known as PT Tso). Sangestar Lake, Bum La Pass and China Border (subject to permission from Indian Army). Overnight at Tawang.
The Sangestar Lake, or more popularly known as the Madhuri Lake, is about 20 kms from Tawang, en route to the road leading to Bum La Pass. The lake is surrounded by the majestic snow-capped mountains and a marvelous valley offering spectacular views.
The Bum La Pass is one of the four officially agreed BPM (Border Personnel Meeting) point between Indian Army and People's Liberation Army of China for regular consultations and interactions between the two armies, which helps in defusing face-offs. The other BPM points in India are - Chushul in Ladakh, Nathu La in Sikkim and LipulekhPass in Uttarakhand.
The process of procuring permit to visit China Border requires at least one of the guest members to visit the DC’s office the previous day for certain formalities. Permission is on the discretion of the officials. Sometimes there may be last moment cancellation even after getting permission as the region is a high security zone.
DC’s office remains closed on Saturday & Sunday.
After breakfast visit the Tawang Monastery, Urgelling Monastery. After Lunch visit the War Memorial commemorating the bravery of the Indian heroes of the Indo-China war of 1962. Witness the light & sound show in the evening. Overnight in Tawang.
The Tawang Monastery, also known as the “GALDEN NAMGYEL LHATSE” is one of the largest Lamaseries of Mahayana sect in Asia and is the largest of its kind in India. The Monastery is 400 year old and is adorned with the 18 feet high statue of Lord Buddha. It stands at 10,000 feet amidst the exotic Himalayan ranges and overlooks the Tawang-Chu valley. The Urgelling Monastery is located 5 km from Tawang city, and is the birth place of the 6th Dalai Lama, born in the 17th century. The monastery was established by the Lama UrgenSangpo in the 15th century. Mongpa village visit will acquaint a visitor to their lifestyle, culture and traditions. The villages are located amidst exquisite beauty.
Tawang - Dirang ( 6 -7 Hrs)
Start early in the morning for Dirang. Continue your drive and do not forget to keep your cameras handy as you cross Jung Fallsand get some spectacular views. Check in to your hotel. After lunch visit the regional apple Nursery, kiwi farm, Dirang Monastery. Overnight stay in Dirang.
(Jung Falls :TheNuranang falls (original name) @6000 feet is located about 40 km before reaching Tawang is famed as one of the most stunning waterfalls in North East India. The falls height is about 100 meters. The legend about the waterfalls goes that it is named after a Monpa girl Nura who aided an Indian soldier during the 1962 Sino-Indian War. )
Dirang – Tezpur(200kms/8hrs)
Today early morning, drive to Tezpur, Lunch on the way Upon arrival, check into the hotel.Overnight stay at the Tezpur.
Tezpur– Guwahati (250kms / 6-7hrs)
After Breakfast proceed to Guwahati. On arrival visit Kamakhya Temple and enjoy the boat ride in Brahmaputra river for visiting Umananda Temple situated in a small river island in Brahmaputra. Check in at hotel and relax. Rest of the time is free at leisure. Overnight at Guwahati.
After breakfast transfer to Guwahati airport / railway station till 13.00 hrs. to depart by for your home destination.Tour ends with sweet memories conducted by Heena Tours & Travels.
